Exotic Trips

Brazil - River X
If you are looking for a fly fishing adventure in the Amazon that takes adventure up a few notches over the Agua Boa Amazon Lodge,  then you definitely need to experience the River X fishing trip.

Mobile Fishing Camp Maximizes Your Fishing Opportunities

Brazil Fly Fishing for Peacock Bass

River X is a backcountry trip with camps set up on sand bars and beaches in air-conditioned, tented barges that are 100% mobile. The mobility of the tent barges allows anglers and guides to access the best water possible, ensuring all anglers plenty of water to spread out so no one is fishing the same area. Despite being in such a remote, mobile location you will not lose on the level of service and amenities as the tent barges are extremely well equipped and the chef holds nothing back. Every amenity that is possible will be available including great food, air conditioned accommodations, excellent service and plenty of fishing.  And honestly, what angler doesn’t enjoy the fact that he can catch fish from your front porch while enjoying the local Brazilian flavors!

The Fishing

River X Brazil Fly Fishing for Peacock BassBig tackle and big rods are the name of the game in the Amazon and this holds true for the River X operation. The fishing occurs on two different rivers during the months of January and February both on clear water tributaries that flow into the Rio Branco. All three species of Peacocks are available coupled with countless other Amazonian sport fish including but not limited to Arawana and Pacu.  For most anglers visiting these unique fisheries will log more variety of species than they have experienced while fishing freshwater anywhere else. The diversity of the Amazon is what really makes it unique from other freshwater locations around the world and you can do a lot of your fishing visually. With so many different species of fish, the strength of the fish and remoteness you can’t go wrong as a fly rodder.

Both tributaries have been chosen for the great water clarity, fly friendly fishing opportunities and their endless river channels. Throughout the shallow water you can expect to find an abundance of smaller peacocks while the larger Temensis and Spotted Peacocks roam throughout the river in an endless search for food and can be spotted visually or located via “scared to death” baitfish exploding out of the water. The sight fishing is usually a bit more challenging for the angler but with fish crashing bait at pretty much every cast, followed by a few strips of line, this means…fish on!

This trip is not for the weak-hearted and will give even the most adventurous anglers a trip of a lifetime.

Trip cancellation insurance and evacuation insurance.

Because your deposit and other payment is non-refundable, Castafly Travel, LLC suggests you consider trip and medical evacuation insurance. This insurance is the best way to avoid losing your deposit due to unanticipated circumstances or emergencies. Because Castafly Travel, LLC has no ability to control your deposit onceit is forwarded to the respective lodge, outfitter, etc., we have developed a relationship with Sportsman’s Travel Insurance.

We also recommend trip evacuation/rescue insurance with Global Rescue, a medical and security evacuation service. We strongly urge to consider these types of insurance, be it with Sportsman’s Travel, Global Rescue, or some other trip and medical evacuation insurance company. A brochure for each company is included in your pre-trip planning package.
